26 Feb Dea Congratulates Dagger Author Anna Caig on Publication Debut
I had a fantastic evening last night at the Derbyshire launch party of ‘The Wise Witch of Orkney’ by the delightful Anna Caig. Anna – and her book – mean a lot to me because the novel first came to my attention when it was longlisted, then shortlisted, and then highly commended for the Debut Dagger all the way back in 2020. Anna landed her lovely agent Stephanie as a result, and then it was a little while before she got her publishing contract, but it happened, and yesterday was the day we all got to hold this fabulous book – with stunning cover to match – in our hands.
Happily for me, Anna and I became friends as a result of the Debut Dagger and she runs our BookMarketingPRO course for Fiction Feedback. Last year I invited her to be a guest speaker at the CWA’s Northern Symposium in Ilkley to share her book marketing knowledge with crime writers, and everyone there found her exceptional too.
The Debut Dagger, now called the Emerging Author Dagger, is a competition which I facilitate in my ongoing role as Competitions Coordinator for the Crime Writers’ Association, and which Fiction Feedback is proud to sponsor. I wonder how many of the hundreds of entrants will go on to be shortlisted and with a little luck also have their publication dream come true?
