Fiction Feedback has launched Crafting Crime, an online crime writing course with award-winning author and editor Martin Edwards. The course comprises 12 modules and is aimed at potential crime writers with a certain level of experience who would like to learn alone and study independently. There are no classroom sessions, no need to review the work of peers and no other writers commenting on your own work. Fiction Feedback has added a new critique service for submissions of the opening of a novel - whether it's to an agent or publisher, or for a competition. The word count is a maximum 5,000. This might for instance include 3,000 words of the novel and a 1,500-word synopsis. Tip: Please do check carefully what word count the agent, publisher or competition wants, and submit accordingly. Don't assume they'll be OK with a few words over the specified maximum: it's often not the case. Find details and prices here.
